TAA40104 CERTIFICATE IV IN TRAINING AND ASSESSMENT

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

This program specifies the competencies required to deliver training in an industry area or area of expertise and

to conduct competency based assessments in a range of contexts. You will develop the knowledge, skills and

attitudes required to be a skilled trainer and assessor in the workplace.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You may enrol in TAA40104 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment if you have the following:

• sound literacy and numeracy skills.

• working in or have access to a training and assessment environment.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Upon successful completion of the program, you will meet the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF)

to be teacher, trainer and assessor.

Teachers, Trainers and Assessors often work in:

• Registered Training Organisations.

• TAFE Institutes.

• Secondary schools offering Vocational and Technical Education.

• Organisations – private or public.

• Self employed contract trainer and/or assessor.

PROGRAM DURATION

This course is structured through competency based training and assessment. Course duration is based on

individual training requirements and the completion of classroom assessments, workplace projects. The training

program can be customised and the duration will depend upon the learner’s prior experience and the amount of

time that can be devoted to study and completion of activities.

Total Nominal Hours: 255-305

10-20 hours per unit of competency.

PROGRAM ARTICULATION

The TAA 40104 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment provides entry into the TAA50104 Diploma of Training

and Assessment.

PROGRAM AWARD

Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

Individuals may receive credit for their knowledge and skills through recognition of prior learning (RPL) upon

completion of the RPL process.

The process will involve an initial meeting with an assessor to discuss your needs. Fees may be applicable for

this service. You will then be required to gather your evidence; enrol into the class/es and submit your

application for assessment.

Assessment may include skills and achievements from:

• Work experience (paid and unpaid)

• Life experience (for example leisure pursuits or voluntary work)

• Previous study (formal or informal training and education, for example industry training, school, college or adult

education classes)

In order to grant RPL, an assessor must be confident that candidates are currently competent. Evidence used

for assessment may take a variety of forms and could include certification, references from past employers, work

samples, testimonials from clients and challenge testing.
